The story
Have you ever been to a zoo? Seen the animals strut about, make faces, romp and roar? But do you have any idea what really happens when the visitors aren’t there or looking the other way? Well, follow the guide.
It’s a perfectly normal zoo, with a keeper, paths with cages filled with animals of every sort of fur, feather or scale. Every day happy visitors laugh at the monkey’s tricks, crick their necks as they admire the giraffe’s, marvel at the elephant or gape in fear at the lion’s sharp teeth and the tiger’s claws. So everything seems normal in this ordinary zoo.
HOWEVER...
All these carnivores, herbivores, mammals and ovipara are just playing at being zoo animals. As soon as humans stop watching they lead a completely different life, one that nobody could possibly imagine. Who would ever think that a huge network of underground tunnels, with secret entrances, linking all the cages, runs under the paths and lawns of the zoo? Who could suspect that certain cages conceal a night-club, a school, a beauty salon or even a science laboratory? And who could imagine that these animals lead a civilised, sophisticated life? But even if they’ve lost a little of the wild instinct of their fellows of the jungle and the plain, there’s still plenty of conflict, mainly between two rival groups: The first is Leon’s, the lion. This gang clashes with the clique preslided over by Sir Felix Tigris, the tiger.

MAN EATER
Panic in the zoo! The Keeper has disappeared. Suspicion immediately falls on Leon. He has no alibi and there’s a stack of evidence. So Leon is accused of capturing and devouring the keeper. While a trial is arranged, Thalar carries out his own investigation in a race against time to prove his friend is innocent before he’s found guilty.
CROCA GETS TOUGH
The zoo Director decides to sell Croca to a crocodile skin handbag manufacturer on the grounds he’s too cowardly. Leon, Thalar and Sir Felix have just one night to turn Croca into the most dangerous of predators.
DIET THIS
A conflict arises between certain animals. Alca decides that if order and discipline are to prevail among the animals, they must have a leader. A crazy campaign begins, opposing Alca, with journalist, Naja, as communications advisor and Leon, with Thalar as his campaign manager.
ALCA’S SECRET
Leon and Thalar accidentally come across a reel of film that seems to compromise Alca. They are out for revenge and they decide to blackmail him. So poor Alca has to obey the two terrors. Naturally, the animals community no longer recognises their little penpusher and start to get worried.
FLEA WARS
A terrible plague threatens the zoo residents: an army of vicious fleas has infiltrated the zoo and is about to launch a massive attack. To resist the invader and organise the defence of the zoo, the residence of General Sir Felix Tigris is transformed into battle HQ. At the risk of their hides, the animals engage in an epic struggle that becomes the stage for acts of heroism... and cowardice.
